Mike’s Journal
DAY 3
DATE: Friday, August 24, 2012
TIME: 11:27 pm
A. OPENING THOUGHTS/OBSERVATIONS:
Been feeling a little uninspired by my goals today. Or rather, uninspired by having to repeat them to myself while working out. Today will be the last day to review them before going on to the next chapter.
B. DREAM ENTRY: (Use this section if you can remember your dreams. Pay special attention as to how they support knowledge on your new adventure.)
Dreamed about flying and showing others how to fly. This indicates that my subconscious is supporting my thirty day quest. To me, flying is a connection to spirit. It defies gravity, gravity being a human experience. In my dreams there’s a certain technique one must master to be able to fly. You first must create a “falling” sensation before you’re picked back up and are able to soar. I think that’s symbolic of faith in this case.
C. Today you will once again focus on each intention. After reviewing each intention, identify what, if anything, stands in the way of your attaining that intention. This is what’s called the “Critical Gap” between where you are and where you’d like to be. Normally a Critical Gap will reflect a perceived lack in support, resources, time, money, or knowledge. After you identify your Critical Gap, identify the emotion associated with each gap.

The Workout
Focus on ___Pulling Exercises (Back, Lats, Biceps)______________
1. Exercise 1: Barbell Standing Row
___4___ Sets of ____12____ Reps
After Set 1, identify your first intention once again then identify what, if anything, stands in the way of your obtaining it.
INTENTION 1: ________Increase Confidence____________________
Critical Gap: ________Dedicating Enough Time to this_Program____ (List after Set 1)
Explain further (After Set 2)…
(a) What stands in my way of increasing my confidence is being busy with my job all day long. This book not only requires working out but also setting aside time to write these journal entries. By Sets 3 and 4 I realized to overcome this limitation was to take one day at a time and not concern myself with the full 30 Days of the Quest. I chose to workout today. Let tomorrow come but today I’m sticking to this regimen. One day at a time is all that's necessary.
Emotion Identified: (Identify this after Set 3)______Apathy_____________
2. Exercise 2: Machine Seated Low Row
___4___ Sets of ____12_____ Reps
INTENTION 2: ______Spiritual Life__________________________
Critical Gap: (Set 1)________________Lack of Energy_________________
Explain further (Set 2)…
(b) On the first two sets I reflected on what stands in the way of a better spiritual life. Mostly fatigue and a booked schedule. (Though I must say that since starting this thirty day regimen my spiritual life has been very alive and well.) My energy is increasing with as I increase my ability to follow through on this program. I focused on how the daily follow through is the way to overcome this barrier.
Emotion Identified: (Set 3)__________Fear/Apathy________________
3. Exercise 3: Lat Pull Down
___4___ Sets of ____12___ Reps
INTENTION 3: ________Content for Book_________________
Critical Gap: __Lack of Support, Knowledge, Time, and Energy_______
Explain further…
(c) Sets 1 and 2 were focused on how I feel like I’ve never really accomplished the big goals in life. To become a different person in thirty days, a person able to write a useful book about fitness and spirituality, sometimes seems unlikely. By Sets 3 and 4 I reflected how this is merely a 30 day goal for fitness, something I understand, and am committed to. I don’t have to be a great “writer”, I only need to use this program for myself.
Emotion Identified: _________Shame_____________
4. Exercise 4: Reverse Cable Flies
___3___ Sets of ____12___ Reps
INTENTION 4: _______Become a "New Person" in 30 Days______________
Critical Gap: ____________Lack of Knowledge and Energy______________
Explain further…
(d) My focus was on becoming smarter on Sets 1 and 2. What stands in the way is that I have no idea how you can measure whether or not you’re getting more intelligent. By Sets 3 and 4 I focused on how the next phase of the “the Quest” will focus on identifying dis-empowering emotions. When we understand our emotions and can manage them, our mind becomes clearer. The ego is the shadow of habit and identifying negative emotions will shine light on these shadows or subliminal "negative" emotions. With a clear mind comes the ability to make better decisions, therefore giving the impression that one is getting “smarter”.
Emotion Identified: ________Fear_____________
5. Exercise 5: Barbell Preacher Curl
___3___ Sets of ____12___ Reps
Once again, review all 4 of your intentions:
1. ________Increase Confidence__________________________________
2. ________Deepen Spiritual Life_________________________________
3. ________Create Content for Book_______________________________
4.________ “New Person in 30 Days”______________________________
6. Exercise 6: Dumbbell Barbell Curl
___3___ Sets of ____12___ Reps
List the Emotions Identified with each Critical Gap
1. _______Apathy____________________ (Increase Confidence)
2. _______Fear/Apathy________________ (Spirituality)
3. _______Shame____________________ (Content for Book)
4. _______Fear______________________ (New Person)
DIET JOURNAL: (log in any foods you consumed for the day)
Blueberry Muffin
English Muffin, Egg, Ham
Granola Bar
Hot Dog
Pasta
Strawberries
Carrots
Oatmeal Cookie
Protein Bar
ADDITIONAL JOURNAL ENTRIES:
My choice in eating a hot dog today reflected my "uninspired" feelings experienced before the workout. The inner does reflect the outer.
